Nobel Prize

It's Nobel Prize season again. This year's Nobel Prize for Literature will be announced on Thursday, October 8. (There's a live webcast of the announcement at 11:00 GMT, which is 7 AM EDT.)

Anyone guesses on the winner?

I'd say Ismail Kadare, Amos Oz and Mario Vargas Llosa all have a decent shot at the title...

My hope: Alice Munro

Wouldn't suprise me: Cormac McCarthy

Darkhorse: William Trevor

I'd also be happy with any of those three, bergman, especially William Trevor. I'd guess though that Philip Roth (and maybe even Pynchon) would probably be ahead of Cormac McCarthy in the queue, though of course you never know.
As it stands, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Bob Dylan!

The Nobel committee seems to like to throw curveballs. As in March Madness, it seems prudent to expect an upset.

Herta Mueller. At 50-1 odds, according to Ladbrokes. Par for the course for the Nobel Committee anymore.
