A Christmas Carol

I saw A Christmas Carol at the Blackfriars Playhouse today, a production of the American Shakespeare Center, featuring (again) the wonderful David Loar as Scrooge, and supported by the ASC’s touring company. Standard holiday fare, but I have to confess that this production seemed a bit less inspired than in years past at the Blackfriars. It’s early in the run-—I think opening night was last night-—so perhaps the show will tighten up. It hardly matters, though, as it is great entertainment for kids and there's excellent music both before and during the show. Indeed, my friends Logan and Heather were there with their two little ones. Less than inspired or not, it’s still worth seeing.
