The Beginning

After checking in, self-orientation, unpacking, the first event was dinner at the Inn, an excellent opportunity to meet people. We all wandered over to the Center for the opening remarks and for the reading by Barray Hannah. It was long, but masterful; he read a story from Airships that appeared nearly 30 years ago, about a high school musician who becomes friends with another musician who goes onto become a fighter pilot in Vietnam. It's a typically dark story with comic flashes--something of a trademark for Hannah.

And then the parties begin.
