Sad and Happy News from the Sports World

As an IndyCar fan (I grew up in Indianapolis and we could hear the racing roar from our house even though it was some distance from the track) and a graduate of Northwestern University, I was saddened today to learn of the death during practice in Florida of Paul Dana. Dana, a graduate of Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, was only 30.

On a brighter note, George Mason is in the Final Four of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. It's almost unbelievable. Other than being a resident of Virginia (GM is located in the Washington, DC suburb of Fairfax, Virginia) I have no connection to the school, but since the teams I usually root for crapped out (Indiana in the second round, Northwestern sometime in January), it's nice to have a favorite. Go George Mason!
