Frederick Busch

The news that Frederick Busch has died is sad. He has been for several years one of my favorite writers. The Night Inspector, in which Herman Melville is a character, is one of my all-time favorite novels, and his very fine craft book, A Dangerous Profession was one of the first I ever read, and one of the best. Here is an interview with Busch in Bold Type. I recently picked up his most recent novel, North, but I haven't yet gotten around to reading it. I will do so immediately.

I've known of FB for years, but you've prompted me to read him for the first time. When I'm in a place to buy a book of his. (He's not exactly in Bali bookstores, and I've had to give up on on-line stores due to shipping costs that are nearly the same price as the book).
