Graywolf Press announced today that poet
Elizabeth Alexander has been selected to read her work at the inauguration of Barack Obama in January. Personally, I think that's great. (See more about the selection in the
Washington Post.) Any chance of having a great American fiction writer join her in the celebration of this historic occasion?

It's too bad that Michael Crichton is no longer with us; he'd have been a good choice.
I had in mind someone (a) more literary and (b) with something more important to say than Crichton, but science fiction has its place, too, I suppose.
