It's time for the New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2008.
On the Fiction & Poetry side of the ledger, I've read a few and somehow acquired many more without reading them. Embarrassingly many more. The one's I've read are Toni Morrison's A Mercy, Hari Kunzru's My Revolutions, and Tobias Wolff's Our Story Begins (although I'm not quite done with that one). In my TBR pile are Tony Earley's The Blue Star, Nam Le's The Boat, Richard Price's Lush Life, Joseph O'Neill's Netherland, Roberto Bolano's 2666, and very possibly a few more that I've forgotten about.
As for Nonfiction, I've dipped into James Wood's How Fiction Works and Tony Horwitz's A Voyage Long and Strange, and I'm interested (but have not yet purchased) Hot, Flat, and Crowded by Thomas Friedman. There are a lot of books on this list that I should read, but probably won't.
