I was up late Wednesday night so Thursday got kind of a slow start. The first event was a staff reading that was great: poetry by Carrie Jerrel and Caki Wilkinson and fiction by Kevin Wilson. Great stuff.
Then we had a journal editor panel with George Core of Sewanee Review, Mary Flinn of Blackbird and Don Share of Poetry. I can't say I heard anything new, but it's always nice to hear editors talk about their preferences. I got to speak to both Flinn and Shares later in the day and of course their magazines are great.
Our craft lecture was by Andrew Hudgins about James Agee's poetry, but with some attention given to his prose as well.
In the afternoon I prepared for the Friday workshops and then attended Christine Schutt's reading from her new novel, All Souls. She's a very good reader.
The evening reading was Charles Martin, whose poems are mostly quite funny. And after that the bar was open and there was much crazy talk . . .
For a little more impressionistic view of what's going on, check out Ryan Call's blog . . .
