Flannery O'Connor Award For Short Fiction

There are several contests for collections of short stories but one of the most important is the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction given by the University of Georgia Press. The prize includes publication and this year's winners will see their books out in the fall: The Theory of Light and Matter by Andrew Porter and Drowning Lessons by Peter Selgin, both of whom I know through work they've published in various journals. Congratulations to Andrew and Peter!

Past winners of the award have included terrific books by my friends Greg Downs and Margot Singer, and I've enjoyed several other books in the series as well.
