Sewanee Writers' Conference
The annual Sewanee Writers' Conference began yesterday and runs to the 29th. I've had two wonderful Sewanee experiences, in 2004 and 2006, and I would love to be there right now. I just checked the list of Fellows and Scholars and I don't recognize a lot of names, but I see that Bill Coyle, who was a Scholar at Sewanee last year with me, this year is a Fellow. (I've also talked about his prize-winning poetry collection here not long ago.) Many of the wonderful faculty are back this year, including Richard Bausch and John Casey, with whom I've worked there, and Jill McKorkle and Claire Messud, also Randall Kenan, Alison Lurie, Tony Earley and Diane Johnson. It would be great to be there but you just can't do it every year . . .
