The Writer as Genius

The MacArthur Foundation has announced its 2006 Class of Fellows, recipients of the so-called Genius Grants. There's usually a writer or two in the bunch and this year is no exception, the notable name being George Saunders (pictured). I wonder how many Fellows have fansites devoted to them? (Among other things, the site has links to interviews that you might find interesting, and here's a link to a story that appeared a few years ago in Barcelona Review.)

It's great to see Saunders's abundant talent recognized and rewarded! The man is a treasure.

Can you believe I haven't read his work yet? I have something of his on my shelves--I can't remember now which. Can you recommend something?

Kat,
I've read Civilwarland in Bad Decline, which I can recommend. I have, but haven't read, Pastoralia, which I've heard good things about.
