For you Poets and Fiction Writers, check out Duotrope's Digest. (Click on the banner at the bottom of this post or on the Link in the sidebar to the right.) I spent some time yesterday updating my personal database of markets for short fiction--I keep a decent list of literary journals and was beginning to add searchable information about length limits and reading periods--when I stumbled across this resource. A little browsing later and I registered, to gain access to some additional features like submission tracking. I'm not yet sure I'll use the tracking, since I'm comfortable with what I'm doing now, but having this extensive digest of submission guidelines and links to websites is a big help. I'm a fan of New Pages, and I'll continue to go there--the literary journal reviews are helpful--but Duotrope's Digest looks to have everything I need right there without always going the journal's website, which you have to do with New Pages.
I did notice, while browsing the digest, that some of the journals that have published me were not listed. Through the "Contact Us" screen I notified the Administrators and this morning had an email saying that they had added two of the markets I'd alerted them to (I checked, and they did), but that the third they couldn't add because it didn't have a web presence. Fair enough--they need to be able to get journal information and update it regularly and without a website to check it just gets too complicated.
So, thank you to the Duotrope's Digest people, whoever you are. And to you writers out there, click on this link to see what it's all about:
